EXAMPLES
Examples of the assessments that Center Grove students participate in during the Fall assessment period include both NWEA MAP Reading and Mathematics and aimsweb+ reading measures. Some of these assessments, in grades K-1-2, are used as part of the Dyslexia screening procedures, as required by Indiana’s Senate Enrolled Act 217. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Are the assessments mandated? Will my child be penalized if he/she doesn’t attend?
This is not a state-mandated assessment window. These assessments are organized and delivered by the Center Grove school district and provide valuable information to teachers in designing instruction for your child. The benchmark tests assist in determining needs for academic interventions and extra learning supports. Additionally, in Grades K, 2, and 5, the NWEA assessment is utilized for high ability identification. Your child will not have a complete battery of testing for high ability identification if he/she does not participate. Finally, please note: State-mandated assessments (such as ILEARN) do not allow for an opt-out. Students are required to take ILEARN, regardless of Virtual or Traditional setting.
We understand there are many factors that led your family to choose the Virtual program. Therefore, if this assessment plan does not meet the needs of your family and you wish for your child not to participate in the assessment, please complete the form at THIS LINK.
