Curriculum: Reading
The Teaching and Learning Department works with Textbook Teams which include teachers, administrators, and parents to thoroughly review new Reading materials. Each textbook adoption cycle is six years.
Grades: Kindergarten – Fifth
During 2021-22 textbook adoption cycle, Center Grove selected Scholastic Literacy™. It is a comprehensive system of materials based on the five critical components of reading instruction, as identified through the National Reading Panel Report from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Those components are Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension.

Grades: Sixth - Eighth
The Teaching & Learning Department worked with secondary Language Arts teachers throughout the 2025-26 school year to review materials. HMH Into Literature 6-8 2022 Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company was selected for adoption to support Reading and Writing instruction in middle school language arts classes. HMH Into Literature is on the Indiana Department of Education High Quality Curricular Materials list and is rated "Meets Expectations" in all categories on EdReports.
