High Ability: Extended Learning, Honors, Advanced Placement

Extended Learning Program (Grades 3-5)

Students identified as High Ability during the 2nd Grade Pathway Year (click here for more info) receive an invitation to participate in the district's Extended Learning program. The program is divided between North Grove Elementary and Maple Grove Elementary.

Extended Learning classes provide a rigorous curriculum tailored to each child's learning style and designed to develop critical and creative thinking. This type of instruction is connected to more than one academic area. For example, students learn how a topic or theme can be found in science, language areas, and social studies.     Each of our Extended Learning teachers has either obtained or is in the process of obtaining a High Ability licensure. This 12-hour certification provides teachers with the specialized knowledge they need to support the unique needs and abilities of gifted learners.    CGCSC Special Programs Coordinator Amanda Trimble provides more information about the Extended Learning program in the video below.

If you have any questions, please contact Center Grove Special Programs Coordinator, Amanda Trimble.
