Center Grove Police Department

CGPD HISTORY

In July of 2007, the state legislature approved a bill that was signed into law by the governor, allowing school corporations in Indiana to create their own police departments. In February 2008, the Center Grove Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees authorized the establishment of the Center Grove Police Department (CGPD). The CGPD was the second such department established in Indiana.

The world has changed dramatically over the years. Many of the changes are positive for students. Just from a technological standpoint, the evolution of the educational process provides kids with advantages that many of their parents did not have. However, as everyone knows, many changes in society can negatively influence that “proper educational environment” on a daily basis.

The CGPD team is a progressive and forward-thinking organization that appreciates the support of the Center Grove Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees, superintendent, staff, and parents who recognize the important role CGPD plays in keeping children and students safe. CGPD personnel concentrate their policing efforts on improving campus safety and creating safe school passages for students, staff, and the school community.

The CGPD team strives to address the quality of life issues which impact student safety and the ability of the students and staff to enjoy a safe learning environment free of the fear of crime. Our team partners with local municipal law enforcement agencies, residential and business communities, faith-based organizations, and other non-profit community service organizations to ensure a safe school community.
