To me, teaching is important because students need as many people as possible pushing them to be their best, cheering for them when they succeed and helping them through their struggles. As a special education teacher, I need to make modifications: pushing them to be their best looks different for every student, successes may seem small to some but are monumental to the student, and struggles are plentiful but not excuses. I believe each of my students can become contributing members of society and live full, happy lives. So there’s no more important job than helping someone realize and accomplish that.
