To me, teaching is important because:

I believe teaching is important to help a student not only grow academically, but also emotionally, mentally, and socially. Sometimes, we focus on the academics and assessments and forget kids need to develop in other ways too. Not all students have supports at home or outside of school to help them gain skills needed for life after high school. As a special education teacher, I see the importance of helping kids develop those skills so they may have the best opportunities to achieve their future education, family, and career goals.
