CGHS Student Activity Center
Construction began in August 2016 on a Student Activity Center for Center Grove High School, following a remonstrance for the project. Much of the site work was completed in July, August, and September. Pre-cast panels were placed to form the walls of the Center Grove High School Student Activity Center addition. The roof joists were installed in late December/early January. In January and February, concrete was poured in the restrooms, locker rooms, and new weight room spaces. This spring, roofing was installed, along with the beams for the elevated walking track. Much of the exterior of the structure was painted in late spring. In the summer of 2017, electrical and HVAC equipment was installed and the interior was painted. In the fall, the walking track around the perimeter of the facility was completed and equipment was hung from the ceiling. Flooring installation was completed in November. Weight room equipment was installed in December. Final touches to paint and trimwork on the facility continued into January.

The nearly $10 million addition to CGHS adds 59,500 square feet of space to CGHS without increasing the tax rate for White River Township residents. The addition serves a wide range of needs of the school's 2,500 students and helps alleviate the lack of gym and indoor practice/gathering space. The addition expands the current weight room from 4,737 square feet to 7,639 square feet. The weight room expansion alleviates the safety concerns created by the volume of students working in smaller space constraints. The space includes a multi-purpose floor, four basketball courts, a 200-meter track, and an elevated walking track.
