Sugar Grove Elementary Renovation

SGES Renovation 2020

PROJECT OVERVIEW
Sugar Grove Elementary School was built in 1996 and has never been renovated. CGCSC works to renovate each building sometime between years 20 - 25. For the 2019-2020 school year, the SGES enrollment was 696 K-5 students and 124 preschool students, with an ideal capacity of 774.

To identify the needs that needed to be addressed at SGES, architect Lancer + Beebe conducted several meetings with all of the areas in the school and refined those requests. This project is divided into two phases and will address the following needs:

  • Improve Safety
    • Multiple added features to enhance safety/security building-wide
      • Addition of security barriers to restrict building circulation
      • Added video surveillance
      • Additional door monitoring
      • Additional one-way security screening
  • Improve Learning Spaces
    • Renovate classrooms to Center Grove’s learning space standards
      • New cabinetry, furniture
      • New paint, carpet, ceilings, lighting
      • Reclaim gym space for LGI
  • Add Classroom/Group Space
    • Add classrooms for CGCSC's Developmental Preschool program
    • Add a gymnasium and re-purpose the old one as an LGI room
    • Expand the cafeteria into the existing LGI room

The project cost will be no more than $15.9 million. It will be funded without impacting the current tax rate for White River Township.

Work on the first phase of this project is expected to be completed by Summer 2023.
