Sugar Grove Elementary Renovation
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Sugar Grove Elementary School was built in 1996 and has never been renovated. CGCSC works to renovate each building sometime between years 20 - 25. For the 2019-2020 school year, the SGES enrollment was 696 K-5 students and 124 preschool students, with an ideal capacity of 774.
To identify the needs that needed to be addressed at SGES, architect Lancer + Beebe conducted several meetings with all of the areas in the school and refined those requests. This project is divided into two phases and will address the following needs:
- Improve Safety
- Multiple added features to enhance safety/security building-wide
- Addition of security barriers to restrict building circulation
- Added video surveillance
- Additional door monitoring
- Additional one-way security screening
- Multiple added features to enhance safety/security building-wide
- Improve Learning Spaces
- Renovate classrooms to Center Grove’s learning space standards
- New cabinetry, furniture
- New paint, carpet, ceilings, lighting
- Reclaim gym space for LGI
- Renovate classrooms to Center Grove’s learning space standards
- Add Classroom/Group Space
- Add classrooms for CGCSC's Developmental Preschool program
- Add a gymnasium and re-purpose the old one as an LGI room
- Expand the cafeteria into the existing LGI room
The project cost will be no more than $15.9 million. It will be funded without impacting the current tax rate for White River Township.
Work on the first phase of this project is expected to be completed by Summer 2023.
