CGCSC will offer a virtual option to families for Semester 2 of the 2020-21 school year, which begins January 5, 2021.

If you want your student to remain in Traditional (in-person) school for Semester 2 (January 5-May 28), you DO NOT need to complete the request form below.

If either of the two reasons below applies to your student, you MUST fill out the request form:

If you are a parent/guardian with a student in CG Virtual for Semester 1, you MUST fill out the form linked below either to continue your student’s enrollment in CG Virtual for Semester 2 -or- to move your student to Traditional (in-person) learning for Semester 2.

If you are a parent/guardian with a student in Traditional school who is requesting to move your student(s) into CG Virtual for Semester 2, please fill out the request form below. We anticipate very limited openings for CG Virtual during Semester 2. Applications will be approved as space becomes available when students move from CG Virtual to Traditional.

Deadline: Please fill out this request form by Noon on Monday, October 26th.
Please complete one request form per student.

Because Center Grove uses our own staff for our Virtual programming, the deadline is final with no changes allowed beyond that date.

If you are requesting a change to your student's mode of learning from Semester 1, you will be contacted by November 23rd with a decision.

Information about Center Grove’s COVID-19 metrics and status are updated continually and available on our website at www.centergrove.k12.in.us/Status.

    Comments (-1)
  • Center Grove is offering an online instructional delivery model, CG Virtual, for the 2020-21 school year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

CG Virtual students will remain assigned to their home schools.

The CG Virtual format is entirely online with no in-person instruction. This instructional delivery model is separate from the eLearning model, which will be used by Traditional students, if CGCSC is required to move all students to online learning.

How do I access my classes
Canvas is the digital platform we will use to deliver content to you.  We suggest looking at your schedule in Skyward to see your most up to date schedule of courses.

    • To access your Canvas courses click here.  You will use your Center Grove username and password to access course(s) in Canvas.
      • Please note that we highly recommend using the web-based version of Canvas, not the app.  The Canvas app frequently has trouble accessing content.
      • If you have never used a Center Grove username and password, please email AccountHelp@centergrove.k12.in.us.  They will be able to assist you.

CG Virtual students are expected to log in to Canvas on each instructional day as defined by the district academic calendar. A simple attendance task will be embedded in the Homeroom course. Logging in and completing the attendance task is the equivalent of walking into a classroom.

    Daily Academic Engagement

    GRADE 6
Students in grade 6 are expected to engage in at least 5 hours of course work each day.

GRADE 7 & 8: Students in grades 7 & 8 are expected to engage in at least 6 hours of course work each day.

This does not mean students must be logged in to Canvas for 5/6 hours each day. Coursework will provide students with both online and offline learning activities.

We highly recommend that students work with their parent(s) to develop a schedule to help them stay on track as they work through the coursework. For a sample daily student schedule click here. On each instructional day, students should plan to log in to Canvas, open each course, and work through the assigned work for the course.  Students should make a habit of checking their email and the Inbox in Canvas to stay on top of announcements and messages from their instructors.

    Digital Citizenship
While you are completing your coursework at home, you are still considered a student at your Center Grove school (MSC or MSN) student. The student handbook policies and procedures apply to virtual students as well as traditional students.

Teachers have several ways in which they may communicate with students. The most common way is through your Canvas Inbox and Center Grove email.  Please make sure that you are checking your Canvas Inbox and CG Student Email each day. We also highly encourage parents to become Canvas observers. You can use the 2020-2021 Canvas Parent Observation Instructions. This will allow you to see announcements, due dates, and observe Canvas course content.

Global Campus teachers may offer virtual opportunities, such as Zoom meetings to interact with their students. These opportunities aren’t mandatory and will occur at the discretion of the Global Campus virtual teacher. If the course content is delivered during a Zoom meeting, the content will be posted to Canvas for students to view at a later time.

    Special Services Students
We want to make sure we are meeting the needs of all CG Virtual students. In addition to course instructors, there are several staff members who work to support student needs.  If your student qualifies for special services and you need support, please contact the following individuals:

    School Supply List
Click here to view a school supply list. Parents should not feel a need to purchase all of the items at once.  We highly recommend that students work with their parent(s) to develop an organizational system for their materials to help them stay on track as they work through the coursework.

    School Pictures
CG Virtual students are members of their home school. If you are interested in getting your picture taken for the yearbook and participating in school pictures, please follow the process communicated by your home school. Parents of CG Virtual students will receive information directly from their home school about school pictures and yearbooks.

    Textbook Rental Fees
We will send textbook fees out to parents and post them in Skyward once the school year has begun.
