    Illness Guidelines
Students should be fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medication (i.e. Tylenol) for24 hours before returning to school. If your child has an illness associated with vomiting and/or diarrhea, they should not return to school until 24 hours after the last episode. This helps prevent further spread of viruses and bacteria, and to promote a healthier environment for all.  Our goal at CGMSC is to keep kids healthy and in school. It is important for all students to adhere to our illness guidelines in order to reach this goal.

    Student Drop-off/Pick-up
For the safety of our students, it is important that all persons picking up or dropping off students use the proper procedures. Students should not be dropped off before 7:00 a.m. We understand that the drop off line gets long in the morning, but please be patient and take the time necessary to make it safe for all our students, parents, and staff. When dropping off students before and after school, please use the main entrance area only. Make sure that you follow the drive through and drop off lanes. It is unsafe to drop students off in the drive through (left) lane. Also, make sure that students get out on the curb or right-side of the car. Do not let students out on the left side where they are stepping into the drive-thru lane. Please remind older siblings and other family members that it is important to only drop students off in our “drop off zone.” Students are to go to the cafeteria until 7:15 am. This helps to ensure the safety of all students. Parents picking students up at the end of the day should wait in the line by the curb area that is marked in green. Do not pick up students until you get to the green area of the curb. Students are not to walk across Stones Crossing or Morgantown Roads unless they have a parental permission note on file in the Main Office. When dropping off students during school hours, please drop them off at the Main Entrance so that they may sign-in at the Administrative Office. Our school’s main entrance is on the south side of the building by the flagpole. When picking up students during school hours, please go directly to the Administrative Office to meet your student and sign them out. We do not allow students to sign-out and leave on their own.

    Attendance/Early Dismissals
ATTENDANCE PHONE LINE-School attendance is important. If your child is going to be absent for any reason,  please call the attendance hotline at 317-885-4607, follow the prompts and leave a message before 9:00 AM each day.·

    EARLY DISMISSALS
If you are calling in to have your student released early, please call the attendance line at 885-4607, follow the prompts and list the time you need your student released under the reason.·EXTENDED ABSENCES - In the event of a family emergency or a planned absence which will result in missing several days of school, students need to complete a family leave form well in advance of the day to be missed. We highly encourage parents to plan family vacations during our calendar breaks as attendance does influence a child’s ability to succeed in school.·

DOCTOR NOTES - It is a good idea that when a doctor’s visit accompanies an absence that you ask the doctor to write a note for our school files, and it will count as an excused absence. If a student arrives to school late from a doctor’s appointment, please have them turn the slip into the office. Without the slip it will count as lost instructional time.

    Appointments/Early Dismissals
On the day of your student's appointment, it is very important that you have your student bring a note to the office before school begins for the day.  The note should state what time and why they are leaving.  Then, the student will receive an early dismissal slip and be put on the early dismissal list distributed to all staff.  Prior notification completely eliminates a classroom disruption and helps to assure that your student will be waiting in the office and ready to go when you come to sign them out.  We understand that last-minute things come up, but we do ask that you keep walk-up requests or last-minute phone calls to send a child to the office to leave early kept to a minimum. When picking up your child for appointments, please go directly to the Main Office to sign them out.  When a student returns from a mid-day appointment, the student should sign back in at the Main Office and turn in his/her doctor's note if they have one.

    Lunch Deposits
Deposits need to be placed in the box located outside the cafeteria before 9:30 a.m. in order to be credited for that day.

    Student Deliveries
To limit classroom disruptions, we process deliveries brought in by parent/guardians during lunch and at the end of the day. Items needed at other times may be picked up in the office by students during a passing period.  Students are aware of our policy and know we will NOT call them for delivered items.
