HOW TO REPORT AN ABSENCE
A student may have four (4) absences excused due to illness at the discretion of the parent/guardian. Parent/guardian communication must be reported for each day of illness within 24 hours to be excused. Any absence after four (4) will be considered unexcused.

CGES, MGES, NGES, PGES, SGES, and WGES will use PickUp Patrol for the 2024-25 school year. The web-based platform allows parents to inform their child's school when plans change for pickup.

A new Indiana law requires schools to hold in-person meetings with the families of students in Grades K-12 who have five (5) unexcused absences within a rolling 10-week period.

REMINDER: An unexcused absence includes:

1. Any absence in which acceptable verification has not been received within the 9 weeks that the appointment occurred to be considered excused.
2. Truancy – A student who has lost instructional time without the knowledge of the parent/guardian.
3. Pre- Arranged – Pre-arranged or unreported; i.e.: vacation.
4. National Competitions - Participation in non-school sponsored State or National Competition

These meetings are intended to help you stay on top of your child's attendance and provide an opportunity to work with your child's school to address any issues that may be affecting attendance. Detailed information on school absence policies is available in each school's handbook.

A new Indiana law requires schools to hold in-person meetings with the families of students in Grades K-12 who have five (5) unexcused absences within a rolling 10-week period.

REMINDER: An unexcused absence includes:

1. Any absence in which acceptable verification has not been received within the 9 weeks that the appointment occurred to be considered excused.
2. Truancy – A student who has lost instructional time without the knowledge of the parent/guardian.
3. Pre- Arranged – Pre-arranged or unreported; i.e.: vacation.
4. National Competitions - Participation in non-school sponsored State or National Competition

For the 25-26 school year, middle school students will be required to use a school-issued Chromebook and will no longer be permitted to use personal devices at school.    

The corporation researched and piloted devices during the 2024-25 school year while gathering feedback from teachers and students. The change is designed to create a more consistent learning experience in the classroom, ensure equitable access to digital content, and enhance online security by providing greater control over accessible content.

For assistance with accessing accounts such as Skyward, Digital eLibrary, and student email, contact the CGCSC Technology Help Desk at 317-882-1055, Option 1.
