MENTAL HEALTH

During the 2020-2021 school year, CG is partnering with Community Health Network’s School-Based Program for mental health treatment within the school setting for students in need of services from a mental health provider. CG previously partnered with Adult & Child for this service.

  • Social-Emotional Screenings: All K-12 students will complete a social-emotional screening in the fall and spring. School Counselors, Student Service Coordinators, and School Social Workers will provide classroom lessons, small group lessons, and individual counseling sessions to address needs identified in the screening process. CG has partnered with Panorama for the social-emotional screening for students.
  • QPR Training: CG will continue to provide Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) training to teachers in grades 5-12 to insure teachers can support students who report suicidal thoughts.
  • Suicide Assessments: The Director of Mental Health and School Counseling will train all School Counselors, Student Service Coordinators, and School Social Workers on the use of the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS). The Columbia is an evidence-based suicide assessment scale that CG will begin utilizing with students reporting suicidal thoughts. Parents/Guardians will be informed when the Columbia assessment is completed to ensure student safety.
