November 23, 2025 - North Grove Elementary School 4th Grader Mariia Khakhula won first place in the Indiana Statehood Day Essay Contest. The competition included more than 550 entries. She will be honored at the Statehood Day celebration at the Statehouse on December 11th. She will also receive a donation of $529 into a 529 college savings plan.
