Teaching is important to me because it allows me to help students realize their true potential.  It is important because I am able to provide a safe and accepting environment for my students to reach beyond what they may think is possible.  I am afforded the incredible privilege of teaching students that they are capable of learning and of achieving things far greater than just reading, writing, and arithmetic.  I teach them that their abilities outweigh their disabilities.  I teach students that they can be independent, they can dream big, and they can make a positive impact to the world with their amazing gifts and talents.
