Teaching students how to struggle, adjust, and persevere gives them skills to achieve greatness not only band class, but life after middle school.  Through experience and extensive reading, I have adopted a growth mindset philosophy that shapes my teaching.  Using a growth mindset, I can teach students that failure is never final.  Success is achieved by having the courage to continue on, one glorious mistake at a time. Students learn that failure is not only acceptable, but also expected in the pursuit of excellence.  This growth philosophy has heightened my passion for teaching and ability to make a difference.
