  • 2ND SEMESTER 2020-21

In July, we shared precautions and restrictions put in place for the 1st semester of the 2020-21 school year to help minimize the spread of COVID-19 in our schools. At that time, we shared plans to re-evaluate and determine by December 1st the plans for the 2nd semester. Based on guidance from state and local health officials and the metrics we are monitoring daily, we have determined it is necessary to leave those protocols in place for the 2nd semester:

    ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

    • No field trips will be planned for 2nd semester.
    • No in-person presentations from outside groups for 2nd semester.
    • No all-school events, family nights, and school performances will be planned for 2nd semester. Events can continue virtually.
    • No volunteers for 2nd semester in classrooms.

    MIDDLE SCHOOLS

    • No field trips will be planned for 2nd semester.
    • No in-person presentations from outside groups for 2nd semester.
    • No all-school events or family nights will be planned for 2nd semester. Events can continue virtually.
    • No volunteers for 2nd semester in classrooms.
    • Athletics/ECA events will follow practices outlined by middle schools for 2nd semester with spectator attendance based on the county metrics put in place by the Indiana Department of Health:
      • Yellow = Spectators not to exceed 25% capacity of venue or previously indicated venue capacity limits
      • Orange = Each participant allowed 4 tickets (spectators), not to exceed 25% of venue or previously indicated venue capacity limits
      • Red = Each participant allowed 2 tickets (spectators), not to exceed 25% of venue or previously indicated venue capacity limits

    HIGH SCHOOL

    • No volunteers for 2nd semester.
    • No in-person presentations from outside groups for 2nd semester.
    • No all-school events or family nights will be planned for 2nd semester. Events can continue virtually. (NOTE: Prom and Graduation will be decided later in the semester.)
    • No field trips will be planned for 2nd semester for courses.  Trips for ECA competitions are subject to approval.  Overnight and/or out-of-state field trips will not be approved unless part of the state ECA/athletic state tournaments/competitions.
    • Athletics/ECA events will follow practices outlined by CGHS for 2nd semester with spectator attendance based on the county metrics put in place by the Indiana Department of Health:
      • Yellow = Spectators not to exceed 25% capacity of venue or previously indicated venue capacity limits
      • Orange = Each participant allowed 4 tickets (spectators), not to exceed 25% of venue or previously indicated venue capacity limits
      • Red = Each participant allowed 2 tickets (spectators), not to exceed 25% of venue or previously indicated venue capacity limits

    DAILY HEALTH CHECKS

As a reminder, students and staff should continue to perform a Daily Health Screening (www.centergrove.k12.in.us/HealthCheck) each morning before coming to school. Do not come to school if you have any of the following:

    • Temperature 100.00 or higher
    • Any symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 48 hours: Sore throat; new, uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing; diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; new onset of severe headache, especially with a fever; new loss of taste or smell
    • If you have been identified as a close contact (within 6 feet for 15 minutes or longer in a day) with someone with a diagnosis of COVID-19 within the past 14 days
    • If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 10 days
    • If are you awaiting test results from a COVID-19 test

We thank you for your continued cooperation and support as we continue to work to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in our community and keep our schools open.

CGCSC District Status Considerations

  • CGCSC will update the current district status weekly.

The metrics being considered include, but are not limited to:

    • IDH County Metric Map (Johnson County)
    • COVID-19 Impact: Number of COVID-19 Positive Cases in each CGCSC school
    • COVID-19-Related Absences: Number of students, staff on quarantine, isolation
      • 20%+ may trigger eLearning
      • 15-20% may trigger Blended
      • 10% or less return to Traditional
    • Availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Availability of Cleaning Products/Supplies

These metrics are being considered independently and collectively. A decision to move to a different stage will be determined in consultation with the Johnson County Health Department.
