(February 12, 2019) - Four Center Grove High School seniors have advanced to Finalist standing in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. They include Corey Briscoe, Luke A. Irons, Ellie Jarosinski, and Justin Xu.
About 15,000 of the 16,000 Semifinalists named in September 2018 have met all requirements to advance to Finalist standing in the competition. All Finalists will have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be offered this spring.
Winners of Merit Scholarship awards are chosen based on their abilities, skills, and accomplishments. They are evaluated based on their academic record, information about the school's curricula and grading system, two sets of test scores, the high school official's written recommendation, information about the student's activities and leadership, and the Finalist's own essay.
