The top honor was announced at Center Grove’s 2019 Teacher Celebration held in the Center Grove High School auditorium on April 30. Smith has been a teacher for 9.5 years with the last five in Center Grove.

"I feel so honored and humbled to have received such a prestigious award," said Smith. "I absolutely love being an art teacher, watching my students learn and being a part of such a great school. It is beyond words to have been recognized by my colleagues and administration for my hard work and love for my profession."
