Calendar Update for CGHS, MSC, MSN - Effective Monday, September 14

090620 COVID Video

Assistant Superintendent Jason Taylor and Superintendent Rich Arkanoff

(September 6, 2020) - Beginning Monday, September 14th, CGHS, MSC, and MSN will return to in-person learning. We appreciate the feedback teachers provided through building leadership and through the UTACG survey conducted last week. Their feedback was shared with the school board during a meeting on Friday morning.

The previous decision to change the instructional mode for CGHS, MSC, and MSN to the blended model was made to slow both the increasing number of individuals impacted and the potential spread when a COVID-19 positive case occurs. These weeks of eLearning and Blended Learning have allowed the number of COVID-related absences to drop significantly.

This week, we received new guidance from the Governor which indicates that Johnson County schools are able to be open safely. This new guidance, along with several internal metrics, including the number of COVID-related absences will influence our future decisions. These metrics are posted on our website at www.centergrove.k12.in.us/Status

Center Grove administrators will consider these factors independently and collectively. We will continue to monitor the metrics daily. If a change is warranted, we will make adjustments to the instructional mode for a minimum of two weeks. A decision to move to a different stage for one or more schools will be determined in consultation with the Johnson County Health Department.

Superintendent Rich Arkanoff and Assistant Superintendent Jason Taylor recorded a video at this link explaining the decision and metrics moving forward.
