(November 28, 2020) - The Center Grove High School Varsity Football team won its third IHSAA 6A State Championship on November 27, 2020 at Lucas Oil Stadium with a 38-14 win over Westfield. The win was the capstone of a perfect, 14-0 season.

“Being a crazy year, the year that it was, the great, special thing about this team has been their ability to focus,” said Head Coach Eric Moore. “They had to let go of all the obstacles, what their daily schedule usually is, couldn’t take a shower at practice, the locker room is divided up, they’re carrying around water bottles everywhere. They had the ability to stay focused, enjoy what they’re doing, and play with great passion. I’m so proud of how they have adapted and overcome everything this season.”

Andy Simpson, Indiana High School Officials Association Northern Region Representitive, filed an exemplary behavior report for the sportsmanship that was showed during this game.

“On this night those warriors on the field demonstrated to the world you can do both, battle hard and do it with class, excellence and sportsmanship towards their fellow competitors,” stated Simpson. “Both coaching staffs should be proud of the job they have done to help mold these young boys into respectful young men.”
