(January 18, 2021) - The Center Grove High School team of Rahul Appaji, Christian Durbin, Katie DeGeyter, Ananya Kartik, Tatum Hacker, Parthiv Patel, Sydney Plowman, and Vaibhava Potturu was named Indiana State Champions and the 2021 Indiana Semi-Finalists in the 11th annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest. The team's project is a vehicle filter prototype that is designed to decrease environmental emissions by converting carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. The team's sponsor is CGHS teacher Andrea Teevan.

As one of 75 Semi-Finalists, the students have earned a prize of $15,000 in technology and classroom supplies for CGHS. The Samsung contest is a nationwide education competition that challenges 6-12th grade students and their teachers to creatively use STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) skills to address a community challenge. To advance to the next round, Semi-Finalists must submit a project video. From those videos, 12 finalists will be announced in April as National Finalists.
