Christy Berger named next Director of School Counseling and Mental Health

Christy Berger(May 20, 2021) - Christy Berger, MSW, LSW will become Director of School Counseling and Mental Health for Center Grove Community School Corporation (CGCSC) on June 1, 2021. Berger’s appointment was approved by the CGCSC Board of School Trustees at its May 20, 2021 meeting.

Berger will provide district-wide leadership of Center Grove’s comprehensive school counseling program. She will also oversee mental health and behavioral supports and social-emotional learning for Center Grove students.

“Christy is both a licensed school social worker and school counselor,” said Nora Hoover, Ph.D., assistant superintendent of teaching & learning. “This gives her a broad understanding of the full range of services our schools provide. Knowing her previous work at Center Grove and her current work at the Indiana Department of Education, I’m confident that Christy will enhance our programs that support the affective and academic growth of our students.”

Berger most recently served as Director of Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Wellness for the Indiana Department of Education. Prior to that, Berger worked for nine years in Center Grove, first as a School Social Worker at North Grove Elementary and then School Counselor at Center Grove Middle School Central.

“I am so honored and excited to be coming back to the Center Grove Community,” said Berger. “I am passionate about creating positive whole-child focused school and community environments. I look forward to connecting and working with Center Grove students, families, and stakeholders.”

Berger holds a bachelor's degree in Social Work from Anderson University, a master’s in social work from IUPUI, and a master's degree in School Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan. She is a Licensed Social Worker.
