Buckler named next CGES principal

Craig Buckler(April 24, 2022) - Craig Buckler will be named the next principal of Center Grove Elementary School. He will replace Dr. Krista Nelson, who will leave the position at the end of the school year to move to a district-level position, Director of Human Resources and Student Services. Mr. Buckler’s appointment was approved by the CGCSC Board of School Trustees at its April 21 meeting.

“We are thrilled to have Mr. Buckler join the Center Grove Elementary staff,” said Dr. Rich Arkanoff, superintendent. “Craig brings a tremendous amount of experience and success as an educational leader across Indiana.”

“I am very excited to join the Center Grove Elementary community,” said Buckler. “I am looking forward to making connections with the students, staff, and families and beginning this next chapter in my professional journey.” 

Buckler currently serves as the assistant principal at River Birch Elementary in Avon Community Schools. He began his career in education teaching 2nd and 3rd grade in Clark-Pleasant Schools and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade in Beech Grove City Schools. Buckler moved into administration as principal of Central Elementary Beech Grove before moving to Martinsville where he served as an assistant superintendent in Martinsville.

Buckler received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University and Master of Science in Administration from Indiana University. He also holds an Educational Specialist Degree in School Administration from Indiana State University.
