National Merit Finalists

Stephen Reeves, Kailyn Spitler, John Brooks, Carina Oza, and Prakhar Saxena

(May 29, 2022) - Five Center Grove High School seniors were named finalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. They are Carina Oza, Stephen Reeves, Prakhar Saxena, Kailyn Spitler, and John Brooks.

To become a Finalist, the approximately 16,000 Semifinalists and their high school had to submit a detailed scholarship application, including information about the student's academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received. Each Finalist will receive a Certificate of Merit.

These high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million. The nationwide pool of Finalists represents fewer than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

There are three types of Merit Scholarships offered: 2,500 National Merit $2500 Scholarships, 1,000 corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards, and 4,100 college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards. Beginning in March and continuing to mid-June, NMSC notifies these Finalists that they have been selected to receive a Merit Scholarship award.
