Walker Millhoff, Grant Embrey, Micah Robertson, and Gowthamm Mandala

(February 26, 2023) - The 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program has named four Center Grove High School seniors as Finalists. They are Grant Embrey, Gowthamm Mandala, Walker Millhoff, and Micah Robertson.

To become a Finalist, the approximately 16,000 Semifinalists and their high school had to submit a detailed scholarship application, including information about the student's academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received. Each Finalist received a Certificate of Merit.

These seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million. The nationwide pool of Finalists represents fewer than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

There are three types of Merit Scholarships offered: 2,500 National Merit $2500 Scholarships, 1,000 corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards, and 4,100 college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards. Beginning in March and continuing to mid-June, NMSC will notify Finalists of their selection to receive a Merit Scholarship award.
